How do I clean the wooden map?
Dust the map gently with a dry microfiber cloth or a soft brush every few weeks. For deeper cleaning, use a barely-damp cloth — never a wet one. With normal indoor care, the map stays in display condition for decades.
Will the map warp in humid rooms like kitchens or bathrooms?
Birch plywood is more dimensionally stable than solid wood, but extreme humidity is not ideal for any wood product. The map performs well in standard indoor conditions — living rooms, bedrooms, home offices, hallways, and children's rooms. We do not recommend installation directly above stovetops, inside bathrooms with regular steam, or in unheated spaces like garages. In standard kitchens and dining rooms with normal ventilation, the map holds up without issues.
Does the map stick to textured walls, brick, or wallpaper?
The included acrylic adhesive dots work on smooth, clean, dry surfaces: painted drywall, smooth wallpaper, glass, varnished wood panels, and sealed plaster. The map does not reliably stick to: raw brick, rough stone, decorative plaster with deep texture, freshly painted walls (wait 30 days after painting), or surfaces treated with silicone or wax. For unusually textured walls, a light sanding of the adhesive contact points or switching to Command Strips is an alternative. Always test one dot in a hidden area first.
What exactly is engraved in my chosen language?
Everything. When you order a WOW WOOD map in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, or Swedish, every text element on the map surface is laser-engraved in that single language: all country names, all continent names, all ocean and sea names, all capital cities, and the compass directions. This is one of the things that sets WOW WOOD apart — most wooden maps on the market engrave only country names, or leave the map in English regardless of the customer's country. At WOW WOOD, a German order is 100% German, a French order is 100% French, and so on. Each map is produced in one chosen language per order. For multilingual households, we recommend selecting the language of the primary user or learner.
What does the lifetime small-parts replacement cover?
If any piece of your WOW WOOD map — a continent, an island, a decorative element, or a batch of pins — is lost, damaged, or missing on arrival, we send a replacement free of charge for the lifetime of the product. This covers: broken or cracked pieces, missing pins from the original count of 297, damaged adhesive dots, and factory defects discovered after unboxing. It does not cover the full map replacement in case of flood, fire, or structural wall damage. Diese Weltkarte aus Holz ist ein wahrer Hingucker, wir haben sie auf eine Acrylplatte geklebt und aufgehangen. Der Zusammenbau ist durch die beiliegenden Schablonen und Anleitung unkompliziert. Es gibt jedoch einen Stern Abzug, da sich die Holzteile (besonders die kleinen) teilweise schwer lösen/herausdrücken lassen. Dabei sind einige Kanten abgebrochen, was vom Weiten zum Glück nicht auffällt.Ich würde sie wieder bestellen, von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

...leider passten nicht alle Teile richtig zusammen, sodass ich Ewigkeiten damit verbracht habe, alle Teile rund um Russland herum zurechtzufeilen, damit es aneinander passt. Das war sehr mühselig und ärgerlich für den Preis.Für diesen hätte ich nämlich erwartet, dass es ohne Korrektur möglich ist, die Teile zusammenzusetzen.Für die etwas schwereren Teile habe ich Powerstrips verwendet, ansonsten hält alles prima und das mitgelieferte Klebeband ist ausreichend.Sinnvoller wäre es jedoch, das Klebeband nicht auf einer Papprolle aufzurollen, denn somit kann man eine ganze Reihe Klebeband nicht nutzen, da es auf der Pappe klebt.Am Ende ist das Ergebnis aber wirklich sehr schön und die Mühe hat sich gelohnt.

Ho regalato la mappa multicolore ai miei genitori per Natale. Mio papa che viaggia tantissimo per lavoro era commosso, non esagero. Hanno gia messo tipo 30 bandierine dei posti dove sono stati. La qualita del legno e ottima e i colori sono proprio belli, vivaci ma non troppo. Il pacco era gia confezionato regalo, comodo.

Nous avons disposé les pièces au sol avant de commencer.
Nous n’avons pas fixé les éléments tout de suite. Nous avons d’abord repéré le centre, puis disposé les grandes pièces. Cela prend un peu de temps, mais c’était utile : en reculant, nous avons vu que l’ensemble devait être légèrement décalé vers la gauche. Autant le remarquer avant !
Les petites îles demandent un peu de patience.
Les petites îles sont vraiment les éléments pour lesquels il ne faut pas se presser. Nous avons fait une pause avant de continuer. Avec un regard neuf, il était plus facile de juger les distances. Nous avons préféré vérifier deux fois plutôt que fixer trop vite une pièce mal placée.

Nach langem Überlegen haben wir uns für eine Weltkarte entschieden. Mir war vor allem wichtig, dass die Wand nicht zu voll wirkt und noch etwas Platz rundherum bleibt.
Die Weltkarte passt schön über unser Sofa.
Was ich vorher unterschätzt habe, ist die Wirkung des Lichts. Morgens sieht das Holz anders aus als abends bei unserer Lampe. Mir gefällt gerade dieser Unterschied. Es wirkt dadurch nicht wie ein flaches Poster, sondern je nach Tageszeit ein bisschen anders.
Zu zweit ließ sich die Anordnung leichter abstimmen.
Wir haben nicht sofort alles befestigt, sondern zuerst die Mitte festgelegt und die großen Teile verteilt. Das hat ein bisschen gedauert, war im Nachhinein aber sinnvoll. Als wir ein paar Schritte zurückgingen, haben wir nämlich gemerkt, dass die ganze Anordnung noch etwas nach links musste.
Kein riesiger Umbau und trotzdem sieht die Ecke jetzt ganz anders aus.

Wcześniej nie zastanawialiśmy się nad oświetleniem. Drewno wygląda inaczej rano, a inaczej wieczorem przy naszej lampie. Właśnie to mi się podoba. W zależności od pory dnia warstwy są mniej lub bardziej widoczne i ściana zyskuje trochę inny charakter.
Przy najmniejszych elementach przydałyby się dokładniejsze wskazówki.
Mała rada po naszym montażu: warto zostawić sobie sporo miejsca na rozłożenie części. Zaczęliśmy na stole i ciągle musieliśmy coś przesuwać. Na podłodze było wygodniej. Lepiej zarezerwować spokojne popołudnie niż próbować zmieścić cały projekt pomiędzy innymi obowiązkami.
Dla nas było warto, choć zdecydowanie nie jest to zadanie na pięć minut. 👌

Wir haben lange überlegt welche Farbe und uns dann für Multicolor entschieden. War die richtige Wahl! Die verschiedenen Farben machen richtig was her und passen super zu unserer bunten Einrichtung. Die Kinder (6 und 9) waren total begeistert und haben gleich angefangen die Länder zu suchen die sie kennen. Schönes Familienprojekt am Wochenende.

Putting the pieces together was a relaxing weekend activity. The overall shape looks even better from a few steps back.
We thought about getting a world map for a while. My main concern was leaving enough empty space around it so that the wall would not feel crowded. The map has become the main feature of our study. One practical tip from our afternoon: leave yourself enough space to lay everything out. We started on the dining table and kept moving pieces out of the way. The floor was easier. I would set aside a relaxed afternoon rather than try to squeeze this in between other jobs. Worth the effort for us, although definitely not a five-minute job.
